Trident CrossFit is a team of passionate, committed and dynamic trainers. Each of our trainers loves nothing more than changing people’s lives through fitness. Although we pride ourselves on our knowledge, experience and continual efforts to improve through independent study, certifications, and courses, we are most proud of our ability to connect with and motivate our clients. Trident CrossFit is an organic result of our passion for training and community. To paraphrase Greg Glassman, your athletes will let you know when it’s time to get a larger space. Our athletes have spoken and inspired us to finally take the step to open our own space.
Sport fanatic, multi-sport athlete, CrossFit-ter, coach, husband, father, brother, son, friend and former pop-culturist. Skill-work junkie, with a snappy engine and a Tiger Woods-esque smile. My favorite CrossFit cliche is “be really good at somethings, but suck at nothing”.

I was a bit intimidated with CrossFit when I first saw the “Nasty Girls” WOD video. Fast forward about five years and I’m stepping foot in Trident. I hear music playing, weights being dropped and I see controlled chaos. I see myself as someone in better than decent shape from years of playing sports (wrestling, soccer, volleyball, a fewyears of BJJ) and running distance races (half-marathons). My first dose of CrossFit, with the baseline, introduced to me a brand new challenge. I dropped in for a few days straight until I decided to fully commit and become a member. The challenge of learning something new and being able to compete against time and for max reps provides a personal test every day I step into the gym. CrossFit has built me to be in better shape and has also helped me live a better, healthier lifestyle. I find it an honor to be part of the coaching staff.
I have always had a passion for athletics, competition, and helping others. I played NAIA Division 1 basketball for four years in college, was the team captain for two, and have coached in the past. I love new adventures and certainly ventured into one when I found Crossfit.
CrossFit has given me back the opportunity to be competitive in a team environment and help others achieve their goals. After discovering CrossFit I acquired a Level 1 CrossFit Certification through Trident. My drive to coach comes from the desire to help people reach their goals and feel good about their accomplishments. My favorite thing about CrossFit is witnessing and being a part of those “first time” moments. Nothing better.
With a background in classical dance, competitive swimming and coaching, I thought the days of being in “the best shape of my life” were a memory of the past. I never imagined my total fitness – including strength, flexibility, energy levels, diet, and overall wellness – could be better in adulthood than they were during adolescence. Boy was I wrong. My CrossFit experience through Trident – it’s coaches, athletes, and programming – has recharged me, giving me that spark to achieve personal milestones in the gym that I previously thought impossible and motivating me to help others realize their potential as well. Some of the most inspiring moments are witnessing my peers physically and mentally push through a wall during a workout, break a PR, or get their first anything be it a pull up, TTB, or rope climb. Coaching is rewarding because it allows me to contribute to someone else’s success. Trident has contributed greatly to my personal and athletic growth and my hope is to do the same for others within this amazing community.
Jeff is passionate about staying fit and has always been an intense competitor that welcomes the next challenge. Having been a CrossFit addict for nearly four years now, Level 1 certified, he is able to share this passion and sense of personal competition with other CrossFitters. When Jeff not doing CrossFit you will probably find him training for his next road race. Looks forward to helping people become happier, healthier and fitter one WOD at a time.
The competitive nature to oneself and to others around you is an aspect of CrossFit that I was immediately drawn to. CrossFit like all martial arts has been an outlet for my expression. Who I am, what my potential is can be defined by the physical movement I execute during the workouts (except for Overhead Squats and Snatches…don’t pay attention those…seriously). The greatest reward to coaching is allowing another athlete to express themselves through a movement they were convinced they could not get. The satisfaction of “rounds complete” is indescribable. As a martial artist (Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, Tae kwon do, Marine Corps Martial Arts), Combat Weapons Master Instructor and Combat Marksmanship Trainer I am able to easily translate my coaching and platform instruction to CrossFit. When I am not at Trident, I spend time teaching my daughter the finer points of life like AR gunsmithing, pistol work, flying triangle chokes and deadlifts.
Having been born with an unbridled enthusiasm for competitive sports but never gifted with the same natural athletic ability of others, I know what it’s like to have to fight for every small modicum of success. From a young age this caused me to approach training with the same disciplined, analytical mind that I use as a chemistry student at George Mason University. Whether you dream of qualifying for the CrossFit games or simply wish to lead a healthier, more active lifestyle I will bring the same drive and determination I use in my own life to help you achieve your goals.

As an assistant coach at Trident it’s my job to instruct and motivate our members. I started Crossfit in the fall of 2009 and have been an assistant coach at Trident since January ’12. I’m Level 1 Certified and an active member of Trident’s Olympic Lifting Club.
If you ever have any questions just let me know…whether or not I’m wearing my blue shirt!
My wife had been intrigued by CrossFit for some time and had been pushing to attend a workout. I am skeptical by nature and thought we were doing just fine at the Globo Gym in our “Functional Room” and “CrossFit-style” workouts. A year passes and she finally convinces me to give it a shot so we came in to Trident for a baseline and haven’t looked back. I’m beyond addicted; the WODs, the people, the coaches, Trident truly has the best of them all. Fast forward to this past summer and I’m sitting in an interview discussing acoustic technology for the Navy and all I can think about is WODing. The following week, I talk to Mr. Smith about what it would take to join his Trident family and a short time later I become an intern, acquire my L1 Cert, and start growing into an Assistant Coach. I’m far from satisfied though, I want to become a better athlete, a better coach and better person; I want to give back to our community and help other athletes just like Trident has helped me. So come on in and just give it a shot; it will be the best investment of your life. It will help you realize what it truly feels like to be alive.
One of my best friends introduced me to CrossFit in August 2009. Once I had a taste of what many call the CrossFit “Kool-Aid”, I was hooked. My day to-day career is a K-9 Handler for the Air Force; but my real passion is coaching CrossFit. I love helping others lead healthy lives by providing lessons I have learned which might help improve others’ movement patterns. My goal as a coach is to promote long, healthy, and prosperous lives. I am proud to be a part of the amazing community that is Trident CrossFit.
