As an engineering major and former Marine Corps pilot, it’s taken me a while to find a place where my nerdery and love of fitness could work together. CrossFit has helped me find my own direction, so much so that I left the cubicle world to attend graduate school full time for Exercise Science. I’m intrigued by the human body, this awesome adaptive machine, over which we have SO MUCH control. My passion for CrossFit comes less from the actual workouts and more from seeing people take control and mold their bodies into healthier machines. Other gyms are great, but what we have going on with this community is an empowerment of individuals to make themselves better. It’s an honor to help out with knowledge and training of movements, and it’s an inspiration to see everyone constantly improving.
What’s your favorite workout?
Memorial Day Murph. For me, it’s an annual opportunity to reflect and to quietly thank those who have died in the line of duty.
When you’re not CrossFitting, you’re…?
Probably either studying for something (I might be addicted to learning) or chilling with my pups.
