After getting hooked on Crossfit by following the main web page, I found myself following fellow Head Coach, Emily, to Trident shortly after the box opened. This took my workouts and enjoyment to a whole new level. I was no longer the guy doing strange stuff in the corner of the local “Globo Gym”. I found a great community and great friends to help push myself further and harder.
Coaching at Trident came along naturally. As a teacher in “real life”, I love working with my students and seeing those “light bulb moments” when understanding occurs. Finding those faces amid the sweat, grunts, groans and pain of a Trident WOD is harder, but just as rewarding.
Favorite movement or WOD?
I don’t know if I’ve discovered a favorite movement or WOD in Crossfit, but I think the WODs I’ve come to appreciate the most are the Hero WODs. Besides being extremely physical and exhausting, the Hero WODs give us a chance to reflect on the sacrifices made by so few for so many. I always take a minute to read about the person the WOD is dedicated to and doing the WOD becomes a thanks for their service and sacrifice.
Least Favorite movement or WOD?
Cindy…just 20 minutes of repeated pain.
What do you like to do outside of CrossFit?
Outside of the box I spend time with my wife and son, as well as try to relax as much as possible. Getting outside in Old Town or Del Rey, playing basketball, running the grill at home and relaxing with a good book are all great ways to spend some non-WOD time.
